…a couple of days ago, a name came up in my facebook friend requests box and I felt humbly happy to add the person as a friend… though I've never met her, the name has been with me for over twenty years… because of this etching, which I'm sharing with you…
…this etching bears her name as the artist and has always been on my wall wherever I live ever since I bought it from a stall in the 80s at a village fair in tharwa just outside canberra… since that time I came across that name once again, recently, in the bega valley regional gallery… I knew then that the artist lives around here… I do not know why the artist got my name to include in her facebook, but I'm glad she did… like a circle that likes to complete itself…
…just like the mystery depicted in the etching, the meaning of my life pleasantly deepens each day with things coming into place at its own beautiful pace… like now, now that I can look in the corner of the marvellous work hanging on my homewall, at the pencilled name and year, anneke paijmans '82, and know that it now holds the bonus meaning that we are friends… like you…
(…wonderful that a name which has been on my wall for many years, I can now post on its owner's wall… not that I've got anything worthwhile to post, except to say thank you for her art and her friendship)
(…woops I've just been informed that the work's actually a lithograph, using stone instead of metal… shows how much I know about art technicalities…)
